New To Yu-Gi-Oh

Recently, there has been a nice boom in the playing of the Yu-gi-oh TCG so im lookin to build a nice deck on an extremeley low budget! Its gonna be a casual deck. Just one that'll let me compete fairly with some of my better friends.

Speaking of my friends, their decks are mainly warrior and water beatdown decks. My friend who utilizes the water deck mainly plays Umi/The Legendary Ocean in a combination with tornado wall. I realize this can be combated with by just eliminating Umi/The Legendary Ocean, but he has multiple Umi's and Multiple TLO's along with his tornado walls.

P.S. Im thinking about going for a Defense deck, just to piss my friends off x]

I'm not sure how helpful this will be but I would suggest a good rock deck and some some strong field cards (after all I believe one field card can simply bump another one off or at least that's how my friends play. . . .research Chorus of sanctuary) If you get the right starter, sorry I can't remember the name, but it has some wicked flip effects too.

Or try zombies lol. . .immortal, annoying, card out. . . ooh one of my faves, grin grin
Soul absorbing bone tower, raregold armor, shadow delver (fiend), zombie master and plague wolf. Nice combo, I think. Check it out, maybe you'll get some interesting/annoying ideas. Hoped I helped.

You can make a very cheap monarch deck if you want to win and just play casually. It's probably better to just go buy some singles than to buy boxes or packs.

I would recomend using zombies, almost everything has been put in a structure deck, and you can still play well without the expensive cards (Plaguespreader, Crush Card virus). It really suites everyplayer, since it can be controlling, or aggressive, as you want them.

Hell, any Structure Deck would to get. Might be a good idea to buy the 5D's Structure if you wanna get in to the new Synchros. As everyone said, Zombie World is very fun and has a lot of useful cards. If you're looking for Monarchs, Dark Emporer has Ciaus. Anyway, that's just throwing ideas form the top of my head.

Firstly you cannot have multiple copies of Umi AND A Legendary Ocean. Multiple implies more than one and as such is illegal for a yugioh deck. A Legendary Ocean counts as Umi for all purposes even counting for the maximum of three. You can only have three of any combination of Umi and ALO.

Rock decks are amazing. You can pick up Structure Deck: Invincible Fortress for that and (if they aren't there already) use Legendary Jujitsu Master. 1800 def and bounces.
