A lot of people are complaining about the reprints, but it seems like a good idea. It's better than just doing a functional reprint, and these are obviously solid designs. These are cards you would probably not put in a core set, so this is the only way they can be reprinted. It also allows the card to operate in a new environment.

On a side note, Propaganda is one of my most nostalgic cards: it was in the first deck I owned and saved me a lot in schoolyard multiplayer. Of course we were also in awe of Uncle Istvan.

Both of them can use this to great effect. I much prefer Esper though, simply because of the charm.

This card is SATAN. My BANT aggro will welcome this new compadre because it can just name a Path to Exile and Cryptic Command and leave no worries for getting swarmed. Cloudthresher would be a no show also. Has this card gone up in price yet?

It was already at $50 for a set, I don't know if it's gone up, because it actualy hasn't been officially spoiled. It's all specualtion right now.

I think of it more as a temporary cabal therapy, compared to sculler as a temporary thoughtseize. It will probably see play.

It seems I'm not the only one who wants to see the mage, Teeg and sculler in the same deck.

Turn 2, sculler your mulldrifter
Turn 3, mage naming fallout
Turn 4, Teeg for the WOG, mage/sculler for whatever is left in your hand.

Unfortunately this plan would fold to aggro without a control plan, probably including wraths of your own.

Name one removal spell this guy doesn't die to. The best thing I could see this guy doing in Standard right now is saying Light From Within turn 2 on the draw.. that's it.
I would like to applaud Wizards for trying, though; I've been saying for quite a while now (after about the 50th time I lost to a Cryptic Command) that there should be more StopAll effects in Standard- cards that are put in the set specifically to alleviate overplayed, overpowered cards like Cryptic.. and here they've given us two!

Makes sense, Wizards of the Coast has already banned Johnny Combo Player from attending Standard so he's stuck with Extended these days anyway. Only Timmy and Spike are allowed in Standard who you'll see more of in Standard these days If for now on.

Maybe reprinting Meddling Mage right now was just a bad time to do it, If ever. I was reluctant to run the Mage myself but considering that say you name something with it and somehow you're forced to block with it, you'll probably start feeling like you've just wasted $20+ on a crap rare that isn't good in Standard at all, more suited for Extended really.

The most prominent deck for him to be put in, is EsperLark.

And EsperLark will be naming Thought Hemmorhage, because w/o Lark, the deck does not have it's synergies.

Who cares if your dudes die from Blowout if you can get them back with Lark.

The meddler is always a great disruptive force, but he is also puts some pressure towards diversification of threats and answers, which IMHO is also very healthy for a meta.

Makes sense but what If you name Volcanic Fallout with Runed Halo? Then of course you have Pithing Needle which can back up the Meddling Mage as well.

Why would you do that? It would only prevent the damage to you. Your creatures would still be quite dead.

I already have this guy penciled in my Esperlark Deck. I play 4 thoughtseize, and 4 sculler and after I peek into your hand I can stop any kind of threat and slow you down big time. Remember that standard is about maximizing your plays and when you can cause your opponent to sputter for a few turns you're probably going to win. Not to mention he is pretty cheap (2 mana). Like I said before I have an empahsis on disruption and causing opponents to sputter and that's why I'm playing Fullminator mage (can really mess up all of the mulitcolor decks and thier fragile manabase) and can avoid removal. No Glen Elandra or Sower...that's just how I roll.

Putting this in standard it will go for as much as a Cryptic Command... it's Pithing Needle on crack... or Pithing Needle was a Mage paralyzed... something along those lines... This is how it works with Esper lark... turn one Thoughtseize omgosh I see your hand hmm turn 2 mage or Skuller... such a hard decision!!!... you scoop :O I win?! omgosh but how :O you can't deal with my 2/2 bodies because I said so?! :O

This card is not a Teeg... It's already earned it's respect. It will go in anything playing White/Blue... which is my favorite kind of magic... will play at least 3. It's not overrated it's already been rated and being rated again... Saying you can't wrath anymore is weenie heaven saying you can't play cryptic is control heaven saying you can't play bitterblossom wins games... name Agony Warp... name PtE... name fallout... name Spectral Procession... name Terror... you get the point?
Sure you can kill it's body... but that doesn't stop Figures, Tidehollow or Imperious Perfect from being good... named a 1, 2 and 3 drop so I don't have to hear Figure comes out turn 1!... :)
