Query: What's the last set TV reporter was printed in?
Shlllink

Dragon.
I remember hearing some one say that TV was being reprinted but I dont think its true. We know its not in Gold/Silver and it isn't in the Emerald spoiler just released either...=/

GS-SS has TV Reporter in one of the theme decks in Japan, so many people believe it will be reprinted then.

Oh I forgot about those. Thats probably right....I cant recall when they havent put the cards that were in the theme decks/mini series in the actual set in the U.S.

Hey dont forget its not even out yet here. There is a big chance that the spoiler we have can change. It doesnt even have Typhlosion ex, Meg ex, and Gatr Ex in it.
Well any fixes?

Looks good for the most part. I don't like the random Cargo though.

I was wondering about that too. I figured it to be insurance against battle frontier. Did I guess right?

Man....Mr. Stones is one disgusting card. It might be necessary for the energy recycling (it definitely wont for the energy searching though), but its such a shame to see a card like that being used...
Is anyone else besides me getting tired of hearing Battle Frontier? I think that that card is gonna be a flop just like Salamence ex was.

Hey, frontier is a card you can't afford to pretend doesn't exist. Plus, with the upcoming lack of good stadiums, there's not much reason not to play it.
The point is, don't count it out just yet (before it... exists). Why's magcargo in there??
Kovax
04-28-2005, 07:41 PM
Yeah I did use Cargo for the fact that it can get rid of annoying Stadiums, but I also used it for its power. It helps get what I need fast and its all the much better with Pidgeot. Oh yeah, also cause I had nothing else to put in lol.
I was thinking, do you think it might be a good idea to scrap 4 fire energty and add heal energy? It could be useful to keep the regular Typhlosion ex alive. What do ya think?
Shlllink
04-29-2005, 06:12 AM
I dont think 40 HP healed (and spread out randomly) is worth losing 4 fire energy in this deck. If you get 2 Typhlosion exs out (this is assuming your opponent has a full bench), then you would only have 2 left in your deck. Then if something dies....its not a good position to be in with or without Stones.
Oh and I just noticed, you mean Gold/Silver Typhlosion and Typhlosion ex? (I dont wanna be picky or anything, just wanted to let you know.)
Whicker
04-29-2005, 03:33 PM
Not to mention that Heal Energies won't work on your Typhexs, as they don't heal EXs. So I would definitely say no.
Shlllink

He probably wanted them to offset the regular Typhlosions power so it works more in your favor.
Kovax

That is exactly what I was going for, but im not to sure how good it would be, not to mention it would probably slow me down. Whats good about the reguler Typhlosion is it only takes one fire energy, so the heal energy may come in handy. I really dont think im going to use the heal energy, but im still not sure.

Hi Kovax,
Rage Crystal tech might be nice since when Typhlosion dealth the most he is usual about to die and the new one could make a comeback a lot easier. Power roots would be another option since Typhlosion can also work with damage dealt to him and it would make him a little more durable by increasing his health and switch off his Poké-Body when you need it the least. Did not have the chance to test a Typhlosion deck thus far so the ideas could be off but it does not cost much to check the idea on apprentice in case it looks good to you ;).

Thanks for the idea and I was considering those ideas. I was even thinking of curse powder since Typhlosion is going to die pretty quickly.
Shlllink

Cursed powder could work...but dont forget that keeping him alive longer will alow his power (and his attacks) to damage your opponent longer.
That would probably have to be tested to figure out.

I have decided to put Power Root in this deck...heres the new list.
Poke 20
4 Plusle
4 Cyndaquil
2 Quilava
2 Typhlosion EX (Gold and Silver)
2 Typhlosion (Gold and Silver)
2 Pidgey
1 Pidgeotto
2 Pidgeot
1 Moltres ex
Energy 16
16 Fire
Trainers 24
4 Mr. Stone’s Project
4 TV Reporter
4 Copycat
4 Rare Candy
2 Power Root
3 PETM
2 Switch
1 Poke Retriever
As you can see I got rid of the Cargo line since it really has no point and I replaced it with 2 Power Roots. I figure once Typhlosion has 5 damage counters on it, it will be doing 100 damage and not much can stand up to that. I can even let it go for some more damage. With Power Root, it will have a chance to do more damage and it will get a nice HP boost. What do you guys think and do you think I should add anymore Power Roots?
Shlllink

I think you're good with the Power Roots, especially since you only have 2 of those Typhlosions anyway. They dont serve much use on Pidgeot heh.

You may want to invest in a stadium or two. A single battle frontier will stop your pigeot dead in its tracks permenantly.
Yes, yes, i know. Battle frontier, battle frontier, my mind is so one-track. But you can't just pretend like it doesn't exist.

Battle Frontier IS a huge problem for Pidgeot decks. You would be so surprised how much it actually hurts. So I agree that you need a stadium.
Kovax
05-07-2005, 09:38 PM
Well then what would you guys suggest I get rid of to fit a Stadium?
ZAKtheGeek
05-08-2005, 05:56 AM
I think you can afford to drop a copycat and a PETM. Maybe.
Now, what stadium you would be using is a better question.
Shlllink
05-08-2005, 07:46 AM
The terrible thing is that there are virtually no useful stadiums for his use. It stinks that he has to take out cards and add in something just to take care of an annoying threat.
Bullados
05-08-2005, 09:58 AM
either Ancient Tomb or HPS would be your best bet, IMO.
Whicker
05-08-2005, 10:29 AM
Yes Bullados, there is just one problem with that. Those are going to be rotated out when this Typhlosion is released.
Kovax
05-08-2005, 04:55 PM
I was just going to say that. They really need to make better stadium cards for different types of poke. If it wasnt for the fact that those stadiums are going to be rotated out, I would probably use them.
Shlllink
05-08-2005, 05:45 PM
Threat or not...I dont think its worth it to take out cards he needs to put in cards he doesn't need just for the threat of one card.
Pidgeot or not, once you evolve into Typhlosion ex and give it a quick power up, your opponent has something to worry about.
Kovax
05-08-2005, 05:49 PM
Not to mention that I dont play in tourneys so I dont have to worry. I only really battle Shlllink and another friend. I know that they arent using that card lol. Its nice to be prepared though.
Shlllink
05-09-2005, 06:23 AM
Yes, its sad but true.
But if we ever do get a chance, we know there are some necessary modifications that would have to be made. The battle frontier counter would probably be one of them.

I have to really think of something to counter Gatr ex, since I'm going to come across that deck a lot. Magenton was nice, but it is going to be rotated out. Any suggestions?
ZAKtheGeek
05-09-2005, 12:41 PM
It IS pretty hard to counter. That's why it makes me so happy to think about trying to make it. ^_^ But then I wonder what I'd do against a potenital mirror...
Anyway, it seems to me that the best way to stop a gatr deck is to prevent it from ever really setting up. Which isn't so easy to do. I suppose that you might have to shorten your own setup time in lieu of starting your attack quicker. Also, annoying cards like admin can screw up an opponent.
That's the best on-the-fly idea I have for this deck.
Kovax
05-09-2005, 12:59 PM
Well this deck could be pretty fast with rare candy and Typhlosion Ex's power of getting energy out fast. Also I was thinking of dropping 1 Copycat and changing my PETM setup to 2 PETM and 2 Celio. I think it would work better since Plusle is like crap and just incase of Gatrs power. Dont forget it kills Pidgoet, so I would have Celio to get those basics I need. This might be better.
Shlllink

Hmm...pokemon is too hard. I think Pokemon Reversal would be easier than finding a counter poke.
Typhlosion is just about the fastest card out there. It is in the league of second turn attackers but it is much easier to do because of its power.
Of course it requires a flip...and you don't have much room. If you wanted to put it in I would say lose one switch (since its already a low retreat deck) and the retriever since you would be fine without it anyway.
Yeah thats just a random suggestion. However, I think if this plays fast enough you would still stand a good chance.
Kovax
05-09-2005, 04:49 PM
I was also thinking of reversal, but I would rather reversal be a one hit kill card. I know it is meant to get Gatr back on the bench, but Reversal is should be meant for a gust and instant prize. Plus it is just as easy for my opponent to retreat/switch and send out Gatr again.
Shlllink
05-10-2005, 12:01 PM
Uh...I meant gust and prize hehe.
Kovax
05-10-2005, 01:33 PM
Well I could use the Reversals to get rid of those random benched Tododile, but knowing my luck with flipping heads.
