Unscythe, Killer of Kings
:u::b::b::r:
Legendary Artifact - Equipment Rare
Equipped creature gets +3/+3 and first strike.
Whenever a creature dealt damage by the equipped creature is put into a graveyard, you may remove it from the game. If you do, put a 2/2 black zombie creature token into play.

Feels kinda crappy. 6 mana gets and equips a Lox Warhammer already, and the token-vampire ability should never trigger when it would actually help you.
The extra toughness is somewhat nice in this environment, but I don't think it's worth running this equipment for.

In limited this could be a nice pick up. But that's more so because it provides a nearly permanent threat as long as you have a creature to put it on. Which it makes sure you probably will.

All equipment is good in limited. I think that there have been maybe 4 pieces of equipment ever printed that weren't good in limited.

I think the colored artifact stuff is interesting and all, but only in this block. If they start making colored artifacts outside Shards of Alara, I'll be pissed.

I like that the equip cost is two. Unlike warhammer this gives you the opportunity to play a creature, equip, attack, then reequip for an amazing blocker. The total play/equip mana cost is the same as warhammer, and your small dudes don't die because of no toughness boost. I'm not saying it's better than warhammer, but it's better than you think, and it will see lots of play in Alara block. It plays well with unearth too, because you pay 2-3 to unearth your guy, pay two to equp. You either get lots of damage or you get another creature that will turn into a threat for 2 mana.

Correct.
It works well with the Grixis mechanic.
Not too mention that it doesn't say non-token creature equipped, so if you create a creature with this, then the token can generate more tokens.
Limited Bomb, my friends.

Helps the lords of the 8 lord zombie deck survive...but in the wrong colours. Ah well, who needs colour discipline when you have vivids? 5 Colour zombies FTW!!!!! :P

The "remove it from the game" clause might be relevant too... at least against Esper recursion and the mirror match.

*Falls out of chair laughing* That's hilarious! :D
It'd definately be good in those casual zombie decks floating around right now (Death Baron, Lord of the Undead, blah blah blah).

This card at best is jank!. I mean the color scheme is restrictive. Cost 4 grixis colors and costs two to equip. No thank you id rather have a warhammer thank you

This^^
IMO, Warhammer is strictly better in the 6 total mana slot. In Constructed.
I dont think I'd be too upset if i cracked the Unscythe in limited however

Like I said. In limited, this card is a bomb. Not only giving FS, but boosting toughness is insane.
Plus this generates creatures, awesome.

Can be a quite formidable card to have against you if you are fighting weenie decks.
