An ordinary day of getting up, going to school, coming home to see if I have homework, and doing other things around my house, right? No, not this case. It turned out that today was not just my average Monday.

My sister was jumping on the trampoline, and she got her foot caught in one of the springs as she was running off. She tripped, and fell hard on the ground. All I could hear was this loud crack filling the air. I ran to help her, but then she just started freaking out and moaning cries of pain. She screamed, "Get the phone!" I myself was freaking out, probably more than she was, mainly because she was too worried about pain. She has a bone disease called "Osteo-genisis," or something like that. Her bones break easily, in other words. So instead, I come to get my mom, and when she got word that Emily most likely broke her leg (My mom had a broken arm at the moment), her eyes bulged and her pace quickened. So, here we are, in this sticky situation with Emily sprawled on the ground, my neighbor and brother astonished, and me trying my best to recover from the shock. My neighbor got the phone, handed it to my mom, and 9-1-1 was called.

They were over in 5 minutes flat. I find that amazing. But anyway, they arrived as quick as they could, helped my sis, and rolled her away in a stretcher. I had to spend the night at my grandparent's house, as I will soon tonight again, and go to school normally. Sucks. She never cried, that's the funny thing. But guess who did? Mwa. Of anyone, it was me who shed tears. I can't believe it. I guess... if you never cry like me, tears come pouring out eventually. Surprise.

Any comments, sympathy, or similar experiences?

I'm afraid I can't share similar experiences, having suffered no more major injuries than that time I split my head open when I was just a wee lad, and I already told you all about that.

Comments? Sympathy? Well, what can I say, other than... wow, that's horrible. I admire your sister's courage. It takes guts to get through an incident like that without crying. And my goodness... osteogenesis imperfecta, is what I think you're talking about, and that sucks. I knew a person with that, too. It was just Type I, though, the tamest variety, so it wasn't as bad as it could be.

And I know what you mean when you say "...if you never cry like me, tears come pouring out eventually". Same here, M_A, same here. I think everyone has a certain amount of tears inside their body (we could say "their soul" if we wanted to be particularly corny, but this whole post is laden with corniness enough as it is), and you've got to shed them all someday. If you don't cry often, that just makes the blows that much harder when they do come.

Tell your sister I am very sorry to hear that. Ouch. Whether it's courage or just shock ... hard to tell. I don't mean any disrespect, but people with that disorder should NOT be playing on trampolines. Period. Like how people with peanut allergies shouldn't go to peanut festivals. It equals bad news. Your sis is very lucky to have gotten away with it with just a broken leg... Hope she feels better.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Tell your sis that I hope she gets well soon and she's in my prayers. I've been in something like that, but it was with a old staircase and I don't have that disorder. I broke the front bone in the lower part of my leg and spent a couple of days in the hospital and then 8 or 9 weeks on crutches. Then I had physical therapy.

I'm feeling for you.

Trampolines, the source of so much fun, yet cause of so much pain....
Personally ive seen so many injuries caused by trampolines you wouldn't belive it, my brother a few years ago over-rotated a somersault and smashed up his elbow completely. Then about 18 months ago my coaches daughter landed awkwardly and broke her leg... The worst I have seen was about 4 months ago, a girl landed on her head and broke 2 vertabrae in her spine, it took them 3/4 of an hour to get the ambulance to get to the centre (even though it takes about 5 mins to walk there!) then they spent about an hour just getting her off the trampoline and into the ambulance... Oh and I hinged my sternum on one a few years ago, but thats nothing compared to the neck one...

I hope your sister gets better M_A, really after getting her foot stuck in the spring shes lucky she only broke that...

My friend tried to flip in the air, kneed himself in the face and cut open his lip. For those of you with weak stomachs, stop reading. It looked like a fountain of blood from his mouth. XS

So, yeah. I hope your sister gets better ASAP, M_A.

Ooh kicking in the mouth.... got a great story about that, about our old friend Brad (machoke fan)... he was on the trampoline and kneed himself in the face, gave himself a fat lip, concussion, and amnesia... it was so funny, we gave him an ice pack, and he kept walking around the centre going "whats this for" etc yeah i agree it cuda been really bad, but he was fine after about 4 weeks...

Ow... I hate when I hear stuff like that. I'm really sorry for your sister M_A =(. Tell her that everyone at Pokeschool hopes she has a quick recovery and that she will be out and about very soon.

As soon as I read the fountain of blood part, El, I had to run around in my head screaming "BLOOD! BLOOD!" Such is my life.

Anyways, I've broken my right wrist on two separate occasions, but different bones each time. One was when I tried to get off a chair with my eyes closed (I was 4 yrs old, ok?!), and the other was when I was accidentally tackled by a yr 6 guy. I was 8 then. The weird thing is, they both happened EXACTLY 4 years apart! Freaky or what?

And I've had plenty of injuries on stuff like trampolines, ice skates and skate boards. Especially skateboards. I don't even have a skateboard, but I just had to go on my friend's. I couldn't sit down for a month... Tell your sis that it could've been much worse! I think it's called osteoparosis, because my great grandmother had that, and was always in hospital with broken bones. She died of it. Er... I'll shut up now.

I've broken my left arm, my right arm and my right wrist. It's strange because there is no pain the shock is what makes you wanna cry usually. 6 weeks of having people do everything for you? your sister won't be doing much complaining ;). I'd say get well soon but you can't make a bone mend quicker :P hope she's doing ok besides the leg and that she doesn't have any other troubles any time soon.

Hey, guess what?

That did hurt. Really bad. Choked back the tears, so that no one else would feel bad. I'M that sister MA's talking abut, and I'm very sorry for making her cry. Ouch, I'm typing this with that broken leg... pain. I think I need more pain medicene... after I learn how to spell it... >.< The bone almost stuck out of my skin, I'm serious, and I'm in a stupid wheelchair. Crutches come soon. I have to stay like this for the rest of the school year. I have to take a special bus, and everything. I just got back from the hospital... pain-ow. I'm.... ok.... hee. I got surgery, and they put two metal rods in my leg. No fun. They annoy me, because sometimes I can feel them. Well, yeah. I'm ok, if you could call me that...

Ooooh, my sister Emma broke her leg playing soccer .. I remeber she collided with another girl and we got to the hospital, sat there for a long, long time and she finally came out with this bright orange cast and we all signed it later.

I remeber she would get itches down in the cast and my dad made her a scratcher out of a coat hanger. the doctors told us it was normal, so we were glad. The worst part was that she was in it during summer, she couldn't play in the pool or anything! Ack!

Oh that stinks a broken leg. Ouch oh and the desease is called ostioporosis I think that is how its spelled. I don't know why I know that I think I saw that on a commercial about it one time. Ha TV does teach you something! I hope your Sister feels better. And she'll probably be up and running in a while! I mean a leg doesn't stay broken forever right?

There are two different brittle bones diseases here that people are talking about:

Osteoparosis is something that older people get. It's caused by a calcium deficiency making their bones weak. Anyone can get it, but it's more common in people who haven't done a lot of weight-bearing exercise.

Osteogenesis imperfecta is something that some young people have. I think it's genetic. Either you're born with it or you're not, you can't catch or develop it.

Anyway, sympathy for the people involved. Trampolines are evil! When I was 5 or 6, I knocked out a tooth on one. Ok, it was one of the milk teeth I was going to lose anyway, but very scary nonetheless!

Hey, I fell on a trampoline, bounced back up and squirted blood everywhere on a trampoline recently. ^_____^ Fun.

And we all knew that Baratron had some interesting scientific thing to say ^___^

*Notes down everything that she said to use in his exams. Just in case*

*lol* You just made my DAY, Yoshimitsu.

Actually, the reason I happen to know about brittle bone diseases isn't because I'm a science genius girl so much as because I have a vast quantity of medical... issues, and hang out in various disability forums. But, um, feel free to write it all down :D.
