How do you use the bribery counter. I am new to magic and am confused. if I pay the mana cost and tap Gwafa I put a counter on a target creature. How long does that counter last? or in other words, for how long is the no attack/block effect on the target creature?

At the start of my next turn can I untap Gwafa or will it remove the bribery effect?

Also, can I use the bribery counter on more than one creature. For instace, pay the mana and tap to put a counter on a single creature. Then on my next turn, can I pay the mana cost again and tap putting a counter on a second creature. Would both creatures be unable to attack/block?

1.untapping gwafa will not remove the effect

2.you can put bribery counters on multiple creatures

the bribery counter is permanent, (basically); however, the effect of not being able to attack will end if gwafa leaves play... his second ability is a static ability that only occurs if he's in play. hope this helps :)

This just seems really over powered imo. so for 3 mana to summon and only to mana to cast each round, I can bribe a creature each round. In my last game, once I got gwafa out every creature my opponent put down (she put down 1 per turn) I bribed. Thus she ended up with 5 creatures who couldnt attack or block after 5 turns.

So if this is the case, what is the best defense against a bribery counter? Granted she got to draw 5 cards. I would think you would need a card which either destroys creature, or returns creature to hand. What do you think?

In short, a removal spell. Most decks pack 'em: Terror, Unmake, Path to Exile, Oblivion Ring; all those lovely cards you draw should allow you to get one faster.

I don't think he's overpowered really. You said your opponent was laying one creature a turn; late game your opponent's going to have a lot more mana, will be able to play multiple creatures per turn perhaps, and as I said, can draw a removal spell/those extra creatures. His best application is as an early game fogger I guess.

I think the card is very fun but it isn't good at all. The main reason he sucks is the fact you're giving your opponent card advantage and the bribery counters don't mean a thing when he's gone. He's not locking anything down by any means.

He'd be loads of awesome if you pulled off Elspeth's ultimate, but you can't reliably count on that. On his own, he's possibly one of the coolest cards flavor-wise, but he doesn't hold a competitive edge.
