Can we talk about Conflux sealed deck and draft?

With Pre-release 5 days away it might be worth a look... maybe get an edge up on the competition. So the format we're looking at for pre-release and release is 3 booster SoA / 3 booster Conflux sealed deck.

Personally, I don't need anymore damn SoA cards for my collection, but I'm semi-glad we're getting to use cards from 3 SoA boosters. There's some land fixing in there that will come in handy.

If you pull some dope :b::r::g::w::u: card like Child of Alara or that Angel are you going to stretch your manabase all the way around? It seems too tough unless you get 5 or 6 mana fixers.

Last thought: I think as far as the shards go Naya is still the strongest in sealed. It has 90% of the removal, the most mana-fixing, and the biggest creatures. Draft might be a little different because you can pick more things that work well together in the other shards, but in sealed Naya seems to be what I'm forced to play more than half the time.

Which of the new commons are you guys going to put in your deck if you get the chance?

Naya or Bant will be a force to reckon with in sealed, so, watch out for those.

Yeah I would say Naya or Bant still. But with all the potential fixing available, I could definitely see decks with enough of it playing the 5-color pump guys and other random splash-type plays. Deckbuilding is definitely going to be interesting, depending on what kinds of uncommons and rares you get.

people played 4-5 colors in alara sealed. with conflux we have access to even more mana fixers in the basic land cyclers, mana fixing artifacts and lands. unearth strategies look to be getting even more ridiculous with the new unearth creatures. I always try to play naya anyways and I'm loving the new stuff for naya in limited.

Play Naya unless you get completely screwed out of Red or Green cards, or if you draw absolute bombs in other colors. Nuf said.

In my experience with SoA, at the end of a big tournament the top 8 decks all had the same few bombs in them. For SoA it was Battlegrace Angel, Dragons, Cruel, Titanic, and the non-Tezz Planeswalkers. In a 160+ person tourney you could do well with other cards, especially if you got enough removal, but in order to top 8 you needed two or three of those bombs.

I think its going to be the same way in Conflux with so many "deal with me or lose" cards. I haven't given much thought to what those top 5 or 6 bombs will be, but I don't think Progenitus will be one of them.

There are fewer combat tricks in Conflux than there were in SoA. There are some great ones like white's "untap all your creatures and give them +1/+2" but not as many. Still, with 3 packs of SoA each we'll still have to watch out for those Resounding Roars and Silences when we're thinking about attacking.

Overall, the games will be very similar to SoA games. The main difference will be the speed. With better one and two drops the ball has the potential to be rolling a whole lot sooner. I hope I get enough fast cards to make a quick aggro deck and catch people off guard who were expecting more of a SoA pace.

Since my 3rd or 4th 3xAlara draft I have been playing 5 color every time. If you pick the lands high enough then its easy to do, and now I think that 5-color is the only way to go, as there are just too many cards of too many colors to pass up in pack 3.

5 COLOR FTW!!!

I don't know, I prefer a nice reliable 3 color deck to a slightly better but much more unpredictable 5 colors.
