No, the DCI does know what they are doing when they slam the banhammer... they may take the fun away from inexperienced deckbuilders who like using rune snag in vintage, probably not even knowing about mana drain. I'll put this in my sig "Check Deckcheck.net before posting a deck list".
Try a secondary win-con (e.g. DC plan with Tinker) but you will need more artifacts (mana accel to do so)
See;
Mana Crypt and friends. (if you cannot proxy MoxLotus)
Also, see;
Mana Drain (better than Counterspell/Rune Snag etc.)
Add more of the good stuff like:
Intuition & Stifle
I would also suggest a UB version with Duress/Thoughtseize etc. to have better play against combo and other control decks.
Its been a while since I last played this arch-type, so there are probably new tech or other cards you should take into consideration both in building your main deck, and decks you need to have answers for.

EDIT: Strip Mine, Library of Alexandria and maybe even some Wastelands might help abit as well.
ive tryed a tinker+platinum combo... worked pretty good. if i could get my hands on a dark steel collosus or w/e its called, i would definetly play it in a tourny. and i do have strip mines.. it is worth a try your right. and ub is good, and fast as f@#k, but i think blue and red is i little more consistant, id love to add red to this deck. i just need to get some money for dual lands lol.thanx for the help!

Trix hasn't been an archetype in Vintage for forever. It's never been one and that's the problem. Also, being a mana drain based deck is the only thing closed to a future that it's got so I sincerely wish you the best of luck if you're thinking about investing all that money w/o drains.
Although I agree with the above post that Trix isn't really competitive. I must say that it is a decent deck to play (in a not so competetive arena).
Trix is also a very viable strategy in theory. Being a control deck with a combo finish. The problem is that there are better combo's out there, cheaper, more resilent, and less prone to disruption etc.
EDIT:
If you're gonna mix colors into the blue, I'd strongly suggest Black and Green. For Tutor, disruption and Goyfs (Just to give you a back-up plan).
