anybody watching this series? It's simply amazing. Here's a link to the first episode and the first manga chapter:

Chapter 0 (http://www.onemanga.com/Soul_Eater/0/a-00/)
Chapter 0 introduces you to the 7 main characters. It's basically three seperate one-shots.

Anime episode 1 (http://souleaterepisodes.com/soul-eater-episode-1/)
The first 3 episodes are based on the three one-shots.

Enjoy

I watched a few episodes and I thought it was sort of stupid. It wasn't that interesting to me.

It gets better once Medusa gets introduced. The beginning is a bunch of one-off stories, but eventually main villains will start to pop up and the series will start having large arcs

I'm just annoyed with the anime right now. Through 30 episodes, there were about 7-10 episodes of pure filler, and we just started a filler arc (I doubt Arachnophobia was in the manga). When it's on task, it's one of the best, most brilliantly animated anime that I've ever watched. When it's in filler, it's weird at best.

The only episode that has been filler so far, was episode 17, where Ox searches for Excalibur(the first Excalibur episode was canon with the manga).
Arachnophobia is in the manga. Arachne actually takes over the role of being main villain. Medusa sides with Shibusen and they attack Arachne's castle.

Then the MANGA is filled with filler. Cuz I can point to at least 6 episodes that had nothing to do with the story or characterization, and then Arachnophobia is simply a diversion from the main storyline (i.e. the Demon Sword). Are there any actual lasting story points that happen during that mess? Or does it turn into random filler at the end?

SPOILER(highlight the text below to explain how the Demon Sword and Chrona tie in to Arachnophobia)
Arachne is Medusa's sister. Chrona is Medusa's child. Medusa and Arachne don't get along. Arachne kidnaps Chrona. Medusa allies with Shibusen to save Chrona. During their raid on Baba Yaga's Castle, Kid uses the "real" Brew, Black Star gets a rematch with Mifune(again), you find out one of Shibusen's students is a witch, you get to see Mesquitoe's (however you spell it) true form, and lots of other stuff :D

Demon Sword isn't the main plot. Soul Eater is more of a character driven story than a plot centered one. Anyhoo, give me examples of the "6" filler episodes and I'll see if I can explain how they help out the story.

Huh. It seemed like more when I was watching in en masse earlier this semester. Here's what I've got...

3 Excalibur (which I thought were completely worthless and probably worth 2 filler episodes each)
Finals
Kid's first appearance at school didn't need to be a full episode.
episode 12 was a letdown (and I could've *sworn* there was an episode b/w 11 and 12...)
18-24 were simply *amazing* episodes!!!
...and then 25 is another letdown...
30 was mostly useless

"Anonymous" hasn't subbed past 36 yet, so I'll be waiting on his sub to actually watch it (unless you know of a better sub)

you have good opinions :D

I think I was over-defending the show because it's my second favorite series (#1 is FMA and #3 is a tie between Naruto and Bleach). 30 was only good to introduce Eibon, who hasn't even appeared in the manga except when they were fighting for Brew, and that was just an afterimage thingy.
I think you'll like the "Operation: Capture Baba Yaga's Castle" arc. If you wanna read it, here's the link to the first chapter: Chapter 46 (http://www.onemanga.com/Soul_Eater/46/01/). You might want to read a chapter or 2 before this, though, to explain things ;)

I made the mistake of reading the manga with Bleach. That was mostly b/c I heard that the anime took some things out and added the filler, which changed some things subtly, such as Renji's motivation during the first Arrancar fight, and the gatekeeper's overall standing within Soul Society. Not to mention Inoue's strength during the Soul Society arc...

Anybody besides me and Bullados watch this anime?
