LOTR and Harry Potter are my favorites. The fact that more detail is in the books intrigues me more.

It was the other way round for me. I read the harry potter 1 and 2, then read lotr 1 and by the end of it i was bored. I think it was because i have a thorough hate for cliffhangers lol.
So anyway, yeah the only ooks i ever really cared for were thhe HP books.xD

Harry Potter books are the only ones I've read. I'd like to read these other books that me and my wife own:
R.L. Martin's "The Song of Fire and Ice" series
C.S. Lewis's "The Chronicles of Narnia"
That dude that wrote "Eragon" and its other books.
HP was a great series. Definitely a good read. :)

I like Azkaban. The other 5 books of the Potter series that I've read were very *meh*. The first two feel like they were overedited, and the last three (that I read) weren't edited enough. Azkaban was an excellent book where everything was explained well but not overdone, the dialogue made sense, the various antics had some logic behind them, and the writing was crisp.
I love pretty much anything Star Trek written by Peter David or Michael Jan Friedman. Q-Squared was a perfect book from my thought process. I've never seen a book that contained 4 pages with no punctuation before. That was an awesome section. Friedman just writes solid books, and I've gone out of my way to read them. He just *got* the characters perfectly.
Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy was a spectacular series of books. Complex and deep, they were the first (and arguably the last) to truly capture the immensity of the Star Wars universe, and to put them in such succinct terms is truly a work of a genius.

I don't have a favorite book series, cause I mostly read manga :D
Anyhoo, I've read all the HP books and they were lack-luster. I tried to read LotR, but always got bored reading the introduction. I've decide to not read Twilight simply because just aboot every girl I know is going crazy aboot that series. Currently, though, I'm reading the James Bond books by Ian Flemming, whenever I can find the time. And I also hope to read the Hitchiker's guide to the Galaxy series as well.
I'm a huge fan of the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver, I'm actually going to be really sad when the last book comes out next year.
Otherwise I read a huge variety of books, in the past few months the books I've read have included:
1984 - George Orwell
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Hunter S Thompson
The Dice Man - George Cockcroft
You Don't Have To Be Evil To Work Here, But It Helps - Tom Holt
Screwed - Ronnie Thompson
Silent Bob Speaks - Kevin Smith
Ruminations on College Life - Aaron Karo
Ruminations on Twenty-Something Life - Aaron Karo
I'm getting The Search For The Dice Man for christmas which im looking forward to reading, the dice man was a brilliant book, I also plan to reread a few books that I've only read once or twice.

If you look at it as work, it is bad.
But, IMO, they are fairly good books.

Right now I'm reading Brave New World. It's fairly interesting. I like Sci-Fi. I'm also reading 2001: A Space Odyssey on the side, as I'm reading BNW for English class. I like 2001, too. I saw the movie and it really captivated me. I love works that are really thought provoking......

Anyone read "What a Thought"?
Its amazing the wife wants to kill her husband, but she loves him,the husband does everything to make her even after 10 years in marriage. In the end she hits him with a ashtray.
Not so long like 2 pages but it does count as a story.

anybody read Naruto and/or Bleach? It's been fairly decent lately. In Blaech, Ichigo gained more power (yawn..) and Naruto went 8-9 tails (:D) and got to speak to his dad! Yay, male bonding....
