Mindlock orb :3::u:
Artifact
Players cant search libraries

Lock em down. Search your deck for a cards via a tutor? Not today. Search your deck for a creature put it into play? Sorry I can't!

Might see play in a control deck. Lock em so they cant search!!!

My question of the hour is. Why is wizards reprinting cards like Cancel, Natralize and O-ring when they are all standard legal? The first two are from 10th and the last un from lorywn. If you want to reprint those try 11th ed. Just my two cents!

Because reprinting of the cards allows them to be used in block and draft formats.

Yes but be creative and use cards that are new and improved

it's almost playable

depends on how many decks need tutors in the late game though, I wish it cost less

might be playable in t1.

you can drop this turn 1 in a workshop deck. hard to think of a more tutor-ful format than that one.

Wizards used to do this and it caused some problems - first it proliferated similar spells. In particular is sometimes resulted in a massive number of playable counter and/or burn spells.

Second it eats up design space much faster - if you want a disenchant/naturalize effect then sometimes it just makes more sense to reprint it than try and reinvent the wheel.

QTFT! But this should cost two or three, not four. I wonder what happened in their playtesting that made them make it four.

I'm guessing that they didn't want to quash rampant growth and other mana ramp effects.

If this cost 2 mana it would be good sideboard tech in general. If it cost three, it would be good in a format with a deck like Dragonstorm that relied on searching the deck to win and was a house in that meta, at four mana it is completely unplayable. It's sad, this effect can be really devestating.

This will never see the light of MD.

this the revealed today on the mothership and the casting cost in the initial post is wrong. The correct casting cost is :3::u: (I then edited the original post).

This clearly does not this a better card, yet somehow it infuriates me that wizards continues the tradition of only allowing blue to fight blue on even terms.

Wizards mentioned a cool combo with Mindlock Orb and Maralen of the Mornsong where Maralen pretty much says, "Players can't draw cards. At the beginning of each player's draw step, that player loses 3 life."

Ghost Quarter is also amusing with Mindlock Orb, basically with the Orb in play the Quarter becomes a Strip Mine with no benefits for your opponent and since Mindlock Orb is in play they can't search from Ghost Quarter's effect to get a basic land card. :D

Pyschogenic Probe + Mindlock Orb = Win as well.

Maralen was the first card I thought of when I saw this, but discounted it because it locks me out of my own deck as well.... Unless there is a way to still get into your own library that won't weaken the deck altogether, I don't think this will see play....
