Hearthfire Hobgoblin :rw::rw::rw: (from mtgsalvation)
Creature - Goblin Soldier
Double Strike
2/2
I'm feeling a little light within: sharpen your trowels (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=74972&d=1215445297).

Man, I'm a sucker for double strike.
Maybe justified here. 3 mana for a 4/2 goblin, with extra bonuses from the goblin lords.
But still, a redzone-only creature with 2 toughness at 3 mana vs shock, pyro, inversion, and firespout is meh. He doesn't help your other creatures, and he can't quite face down Doran, wall of roots, or goyf. Lots of other cheap X/3 creatures that can kill him in combat. He excels at what he does, but what he does might not be good in the current environment.
He's pretty good against faeries, except against pendelhaven. He may be good someday, but I don't know about in the current Std.

very much in the vein of boros swiftblade, throw and enchantment on him and go to work! I can see this being decently powerful in limited.

The thing with double strike is that people don'tsee it as X2. Like Def said, throw something on it and that +2/+2 ends up being +4/+4. Very dangerous.

Mad Auntie, Goblin King, Balefire Liege... All make this guy a tank. Even any of the other W/x or R/x lieges makes him solid. He'll be played somewhere.

A great limited cog. Not to mention the fact that double strike is strictly better than being a 4/2. Even when Doran is on the board this guy still operates as a 4/2 since his toughness "gets" double strike. He fights Finks and lives too, which is nice in any deck.
If RW is short on utility beaters in constructed, this dude might be able to step in, but it may depend on whether or not pump of some kind ends up in those decks.

2/2 double strick for 3, in a set with some of the best auras printed in a long time, seems powerful, heck even with brute force that is a 10 damage swing, in a colour filled with burn, there isn't really a deck in standard that can afford to let this guy live to untap.
If there is a RW deck, this guy will probably get a place in it, I mean they practically reprinted a slightly bigger boros swiftblade.
get this guy down, stick a hammer on him, who cares if they kill him you can play another. Also 2 toughness may as well be 3 at the moment, firespout and sulf blast and the board sweepers du jour and nameless inversion and lash out the spot removal.

This guy isn't as good as Boros Swiftblade, especially considering that now we have Mutavault, neither of them like Mutavault, but only the new guy has to live with it. Besides, when we had Swiftblade, we had Jitte, we don't have Jitte anymore. Warhammer is no Jitte, but we live with what we have I suppose.

In addition to goblin pumps, field marshal pumps this dude too.

I will say that this guy plus the enchantment that gives +1/+1 for mana symbols in costs is insane.
the R/W one drop, knight of the meadow grain, this guy, then the enchant on 4...That is aggressive and might breathe life into WW.

Why would he fear Mutavault? The 40$ land is not gong to stop him. Heck, he takes down an unpumped Colossus.

This guy doesn't "fear" mutavault. But it HHH mana cost does not play well with the vault, and most aggro decks want to play mutavaults if possible (unless they have access to treetops - and sometimes even then).

Oops, you are right about the Mutavault Roninx. It's just that i only own 2, and they both go into my control deck.

that would actually be extremely awesome. also, can you stack first strick damage then mirrorweave into a non-first strike creature for a double hit?
I think this is the 3 drop white weenie decks have been looking for, you can get a pretty sweet curve and top it with light from within for some serious beatings.
