View Full Version : Meldethar vs. Rakavolver - Avatar Wars!

Ok so Rakavolver once mentioned a contest of avatars...well here's the challenge!

On Monday of each week, we will post a new avatar. With links in our sigs, people will (hopefully) come to this thread and vote.

A tally will be taken each Sunday totaling how many votes each of us had for the week. Who will be the first to concede? Who knows...

Hopefully Rakavolver accepts my challenge. :)

well anything has to be better than your avy so ill vote for raka lolz

Rakavolver
05-01-2008, 06:38 AM
I voted for myself. Is that wrong?

Hmm, I' up 3-0 so far. You know, this isn't a fair fight. If I start falling behind, I'll just throw up the Charlize Theron at 16 avy and that should end things right there. :p

OR I could put up Neelix if I want to make it close (and I just might, one never knows).

But hey, anything to take the outrageous sting of Wizards of the Coast's Lack-of-Marketing Department's decisions off my shoulders and mind is fine with me.

Today's avatar is Sir James Paulie Boogaloo Macca's reaction on hearing that WotC canceled States/Provincials/Prefectorates/Champs.

raka you better go find a pic of jim carrey doing vanilla ice with the iced out "word to your grandmother" on his jacket if you want to stay competitive.

raka you better go find a pic of jim carrey doing vanilla ice with the iced out "word to your grandmother" on his jacket if you want to stay competitive.

LOL ! I'd like to see that avy myself. :p

Well, I guess even Meldethar voted for me because I'm still up 3-0. What a sad poll. ;)

No, you can't change your vote once you've voted, alas. So in my heart I'm up just 2-1.

Oh if I do seem to be falling behind I have a killer of Brooke White that might even be better than Charlize! That would be too cruel though, so maybe not.

jim carrey as vanilla ice (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/43448/jim_carrey_as_vanilla_ice/)

i couldnt find a still shot and the jacket actually says "my grandmother gave me this jacket" or something like that..

Uh oh, Meldethar got a vote!

Today's avatar is the deer-in-the-headlights hypersensitive crybaby booted American Crapfest Mediocre Idol singer, Brooke White, photographed as she found out States and Champs were canceled.

why isnt meldehtar changing his avy as frequently as you raka? i thought this was a war...

or does he thing the hammer avy will stand up to whatever u choose?

Rakavolver
05-05-2008, 04:49 AM
I don't know why. Maybe he's too busy playtesting. Well he's catching up the scores now I'm only up 3-2 so maybe I should change to D i c k Cheney removing his human face mask to reveal the lizard-alien underneath?

Naw, too easy, and I like looking at Brooke too much, for now.

Meldethar
05-06-2008, 11:35 AM
Eh, Real Life is a drag.

So yeah, after the first week, Raka leads me 3-2.

This week's avatar: That annoying paperclip from Microsoft Office.

captain_spaulding
05-06-2008, 11:39 AM
um i cant vote again...

Meldethar
05-06-2008, 11:40 AM
I wish there was some way to reset the poll...hmm...

Hey Raka!

Rakavolver
05-07-2008, 07:07 AM
Hey I like your avy, that's cool. I don't use that program anymore (it's a Microsoft product, right?) ... I hate Microsoft, and was b4 Vista (lol)) ... so I haven't seen that in years.

OK, only 5 votes is just sad. I'll add this thread to my sig and see if we get more hits and votes.

Today's avatar is the recently dismissed American Idol Top 4 contestant Jason "Vote for the Stoned" Castro.

" WHAT were you THINKing ?! " ... Simon "D.B." Cowell
" I was thinking ... BOB MARLEY! " ... Jason

" I shot the Tamborine Man. " ... Jason

Meldethar

Heh. Real life is a drag.

So as of this past sunday, Raka led me 3-2. Now he's 4-2. Time to bring out the stickmen.

Can you update the poll weekly? If not, I'll be waiting to vote until someone brings an avatar OL that I really love! :)

Rakavolver
05-10-2008, 05:34 AM
What kind of avatars do you love? I have a million of them.

Tapped_0ut
05-10-2008, 10:16 PM
LoL! Hounding for votes now Raka? :)
Don't worry, so far I've enjoyed all the avatars used, I'm just saying that with out a weekly poll, I want to wait until someone pulls out an AV that makes me just go, "yeah, that's it, it's over." :)

Naw, I like parity. Hey, the score is now 4-3 me so Meldethar is catching up! Good.

Hmm, let's see if I can help him catch up by putting up something completely repulsive. Candidates include (but not limited to): Simon Cowell, Rupert Murdoch, Karl Rove, Di'ck Cheney, Neelix, Mary Kate Olsen, and overdosed homeless Kermit the Frog. Hmm ...

Let's go with Kermit for now.

Today's avatar is overdosed homeless Kermit the Frog

mike lopez
05-11-2008, 08:30 AM
This is Kermit D Frogg reporting.

Rakavolver
05-12-2008, 06:04 PM
Wow, Meldethar, since I put Kermy the Krackhead up, I've outscored you 2-1 ! I was trying to help ya, bro! Man, what does that say about our culture that the idea of a homeless Kermy is appealing? Hmm?

OK, action must be taken (And as a tip Meldethar, try changing up ur avy as well a bit more often).

And by "action," I don't mean Mary Kate Olsen. I see no reason to give little kids heart attacks. Christ, is she ever scary though, eh? So, small steps .....

Today's avatar is Neelix.
Raka 6 Meld 4

Rakavolver
05-14-2008, 05:54 AM
I know it's hard to tell, but I'm a fairly impatient person. I know, I know ... who knew?

Anyway, Neelix is so repulsive I have to do a change-up after but 24 hrs or so. Even I can't stand looking at that avvy. Sorry, Meld. So I switch to the villain dude from Princess Bride.

Today's avatar is ... Inconceivable!

Meldethar
05-14-2008, 09:53 AM
Ok... time to pull out the cheez.

And as a bonus...

The Llama Song cause I thought about it. (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/llama)

Rakavolver
05-14-2008, 03:40 PM
God, I am SO gonna lose. I mean ...

Who DOESN'T LOVE LLAMAS !?!?

(There's even one in Napolean Dynamite ... as if Pegasi weren't enough wtf?)

You RULE, Meldethar!

Tapped_0ut
05-14-2008, 04:46 PM
Ahh, man! I thought you had it with the princess bride, Raka, but a Llama with Cheez?!? That's just awesome! :)

...maybe I should wait for a more lopsided contest..... this one is a difficult choice!

Meldethar
05-14-2008, 08:24 PM
I feel smart for once. You guys make me smile. :)

Still no new votes though :(

Tapped_0ut
05-15-2008, 09:29 PM
Add the Llama song to your Sig, Meldethar. People will love it.... or hate it....
I thought it was grrrreeaat! (thanks Tony! :) ) Sorry Raka, I was kinda hoping you'd win my vote with so many decent Avs, but I think I've gotta go with the Llama (BEHOLD the power of cheese!). :)

Sweet, I'm catching up finally.

*meanders off to his Mad Scientist lab to concoct his next great avatar*

5-6 thus far. Raka's still leading, but there seems to be a chance of hope.

I hope we tie, frankly. That's when I will unleash the nuclear option, a.k.a the Charlize bomb. Heh ... heh ... heh-h-h, eh-h-h. ;)

Meldethar

lol Raka still leads 6-7. What can I do to get those 2 votes?

*ponders the avvy change for today*

Hmm... How about a Storm Trooper caught in the John when the self destruct goes off?

Well Meldethar old pal, you're in luck. My daughter has espied the Charlize Theron avatar, which means it's only a matter of time before Mrs. Volver finds out as well, which means it's time for a switch-up to my default avatar, the wonderful Hugo Weaving as V from the incredible film "V for Vendetta," so you may catch up and pass me yet.

Then again, I always revert to V when it's time to get serious, and with a Standard Pro tour coming up in 2 days and THE metagame-defining Block Constructed summer format Grand Prix in jolly olde England coming up in Ozzie Osbourne's home working-class city a week after that, now is that time. Also, I hear Charlize is a rude high-maintenance diva b*tch, so no great loss.

Today's avatar is V.

V: Good evening, London. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease.[faeries] There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler [Evil Mark Rosewater] (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/mr332). He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey [Standard] (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/mr332), to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than four hundred years ago a great citizen [Aaron Forsythe/Guy Fawkes] (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/af43) wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek [a way to beat faeries and not suck vs the rest of the field], then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.

Nice quote/not-so-subliminal message there Raka. :D

I'm considering restarting the vote.

Rakavolver
06-03-2008, 07:12 AM
Now you see, you're catching up! It's now 8-7 in my favor, but I got the first 3 votes so you're 7-5 beating me since.

Celebrate!

Meldethar

Sad part is you're using your default Avatar. :( lol

I've got to concede a small break to ya Raka. I've been so involved in Work, RPGs, and Magic that I haven't had much computer time.

I'm still trying to perfect Combo Lark for Regionals.
