I just ordered a copy of leafgreen version from Ebay, and everything looks like it should be, nothing is too odd about it, but after I got my 3rd badge, I tried to save, and it said, "Save failed. The backup memory is full or battery power is gone" after that it said to try changing backup memory. I have no idea what this means I please somebody help!!!

Sounds like the internal battery died. E-mail your local Nintendo asking about it, they should give you an address you can mail your game cart to and they'll fix it up for you.

that's especially odd, since Leaf Green has no battery at all. There's no clock in it, so there's no battery to run the clock, and all Gameboy Advance games save using Flash Memory (which don't require batteries of any kind) Have you tried saving again? Did you get the same message several times or just the once? I don't see how "the backup memory could be full" because when you have a Disk in your disk drive in your home PC, and you save something with the same file name, it doesn't add onto what is already in the disk, it saves over it, (which is the same thing that happens with the backup memory of the GBA Pokemon games) it can't ever get "full" because the game doesn't add save files to the internal memory, it overwrites them.
I'm thinking it is a bootleg copy. Have you tried simply starting a new game? Have you tried trading to other games? (to see if it is legit)
Also, all new GBA pokemon games (won't be applicabale in your case probably) comes with a little card with a registration number so you can register it online. IF you have that card, register it and see if the number was legit.
Also, a few other ways to figure out if your cartridge is legit or not.
Is it simply Green, or semi transparent green? A real LEaf Green cartridge you can just barely see through. It's nto quite as clear as Ruby/Saphire were, but you can still see through it to a degree.
Also, there should be NO BATTERY in the cartridge AT ALL. If there is, then something is REALLY fishy. LEaf Green and Fire Red have no battery. (Hold Ruby/Saphire/Fire Red/Leaf Green up to a bright light. You can even look up the connectors through the cartridge if you want. In Ruby and Saphire you will see a fairly large metal circle, that is the batteyr that keeps the clock running. In Fire Red/Leaf Green there is no such battery, so if there is one in yours, your cartridge is a fake.
Also, check the back of your LEaf Green Cartridge. It should have the following info in raised letters molded onto the back of the cartridge:
Nintendo (in the trademark Oval)
Model No. AGB 002
Pat Pend. Made in Japan
(seriously, though, you'd think after ALL THIS TIME they would have patented their stuff! I mean, come on!)
Also, on the front label of the Shiny LEaf Green label, there should be a number stamped/engraved/whatever into the label. Mine is 09 (I don't know if they're different with each batch of games, or if all games have the same number or what) and also, directly under the Nintendo Seal there should be a Serial number/Model number/SOME kind of number (not sure what it's actually called) which should be AGB-BPGE-USA (the last three will probably be something other than USA if you're not in North America)
Other than that, I don't know what else to tell you, but that message seems extremely fishy, so in a snap judgement, it would seem that it's either a bootleg copy or something else just REALY screwed with the game. You don't happen to have been using a gameshark, were you? Certain codes can screw with certain apsects of the game in an unforseen way. Other than that, I have no idea what to suggest. Sorry.

Ugh...It must be bootleg then.
I've gathered these facts from the cartridge.
-the color is ab extremely dark green, and is not even remotley transparent.
-the plastic feels a little rigid
-the sticker is not shiney at all, has a picture of venusaur, the sticker is put on lopsided, and the print on it is a little fuzzy almost like its photocopied.
-compared to the sapphire cartridge it is the same size , but when placed in the GBA, the cartridge sticks out a little on the top.
If someone is willing to sell their copy of leafgreen or fire red, please PM me. You should have a paypal account unless you trust me enough to send you a check in the mail, which you probably don't (but I swear I would).

Dude... Just go to a damn shop and buy it. If you'd done that in the first place, you wouldn't have had this problem...
It's not as if you wont be able to find it, i mean, jesus.. it's still in the top ten best selling GBA games and it's been out for like 8 months...
Oh, and apologies for my battery point. ^^ I forgot FR/LG didn't have a clock and therefore no battery. ^^'

Well, I bought it off ebay because it was only $15. I could always go to the store but there's that embarrassment factor of buying a pokemon game. Playing pokemon is basically an inside joke with my friends, but if I go and spend $35 on it well......
Whatever screw them I'll get it anyway.

How old are you?. I'm 16 and the only thing that bothers me about buying pokemon games is that I can't buy them both!. The fact that your ashamed to buy a certain videogame is really quite sad. Hell I'd buy the barbie game if I thought I'd enjoy playing it.

I buy all my Pokemon games in shops. I buy a lot of the Pokemon merchandise (That i can find) in the shops. I understand being embarrased by Pokemon, but damn, I just find it stupid now. If people are moronic enough to go picking on you because you bought/play a Pokemon game, they're really not worth your time.
A lot of people base their opinions on Pokemon from the anime and the media frenzy that followed it in the fad period. They know nothing about the games, they've never played it. They just base it on the idea that it must be kiddy because it's a cartoon and because the media portrayed it as the next big thing for kids (because the media, funnily enough, STILL views videogames as a thing for kids).
I even adressed this with one of my best friends when I told him I was off to buy Colosseum. He shut up the instant I asked him if he'd ever actually played the games or if he was just basing his ideas of it off the cartoon and media attention. Y'know what, he had never played it. So I simply informed him that the games came first and they're the reason the anime came about and the media frenzy.
He shut up after that and relinquished defeat.
There is nothing to be ashamed about for buying a great game. If you were buying Kirby's Air Ride or Pokemon Channel or something, then yes, you should be VERY, VERY, VERY ashamed. But for a great game like Pokemon LeafGreen, it's really, really stupid.

btw, I just want to say it sucks that you managed to buy a dodgy copy of the game :(. That happened to me once - I bought something thinking it was legitimate and it turned out not to be. Unfortunately, it was a game that's so rare I didn't have any real boxes to compare it to. At least with FR & LG, it's possible to compare the photos of the boxes on eBay to the real ones on, say, amazon or EB's sites.
I'm going to suggest complaining to eBay. You'll probably just get an automated response back from them (trying to actually speak to a real human in SafeHarbor is almost impossible, I know from experience!), but they claim they want to prevent bootleg copies of games from being sold. Also, if you paid for it with PayPal, see if there's anything in their Buyer Protection Policy that would allow you a refund in these circumstances.
And if you haven't already left the person positive feedback for sending you the game on time, do leave them negative feedback now for it being dodgy!

Same here, I'm 25 and JUST got into Pokemon when Ruby/Saphire came out because I too was too embarassed to go into the stores to buyt he game, but after seeing how fun the games actually are (MUCH more fun than Resident evil or Parasite Eve) I figured "screw the clerks in the store. I'm only gonna see them long enough to buy the game" and also by doing this I also avoid the whole bootleg and fake cartridge thing. I always buy the official stuff from stores (even the more expensivve official memory cards and accesories) because by only buying official stuff I don't get cheated in the long run.
Sorry about your cartridge by the way. Even though you did only spend $15 on it, it does kinda suck that you don't get a real game. But honestly, just go intot he store and buy the game. You're onyl gonna see the clerks for a couple of minutes. And if you're REALLY too nervous to do it, go into a store with a piece of paper with "Pokemon Leaf Green" written on it, and just go up to the counter and go "Hi! I'm getting a brithday present for my nephew. I'm looking for.... um...." (and then pull the pice of paper out) "Pokemon Leaf Green. Do you have it?" and then you avoid the embarassment issue. (that's what I did the first pokemon game I bought, now I just don't care and go in and ask for the game) Hope that helps a little. It still sucks to loose that $15 and all that time as well though.

You people have totally inspired me. I was afraid to post my age. I'm 16 and I've been into Pokemon since the 5th grade.
Getting back on the topic: Since the games have been out for a while they shouldn't be that expensive. The wireless adapter is included so it's worth it. I never buy stuff like that online. There's just to many things that can go wrong. Watch out for second-hand shops too. You can get some pretty good stuff in them but at the same time you can get some duds. I never forget the printer I bought that didn't work. (No Refund)

Yeah, your right, might as well face the clerk. Pokemon pwn3s waaay to many n00bs not to play anyway. Seriously though, I'm not into anime, or final fantasy or any of the stuff but pokemon is soooo sick.
BTW, anyone heard anything about these new diamond and pearl versions? Also I'm guessing the wirless adaptor is only for gamecube right?

*sigh*
The Wireless Adaptor is for the GBA/SP. It enables you to play certain games (FR/LG, Emerald and Mario Golf Advance pretty much) without needing link-cables.
And everyone knows about Diamond and Pearl. ^^ If there's any news on it that isn't already here I make sure it gets here. Expect it in Japan this November and America next March.
