The evil Sygg is just sick! Wow, i'm getting 4. He makes burn just feel dirty. He will block, and when that riftbolt launches, draw. on your opponents turn, some instant burn and draw again. Pyroclasm, no problem, he will live. Just sick!

Twilight Aura seems... playable. Its essentially glorious anthem for two mana. The drawback I don't really see as a drawback because you can always mana burn or use the mana on say Militia's Pride. Maybe this can find a spot in kithkin as Wizened Cenn 5-X.

As for Sygg, I'm not sure what to think yet.

Absolutely playable. Good succinct analysis there.

Because you can't have too many anthems and lords. With the new G/W elf lord, G/W elves will have 3 anthems and 3 lords. +1 if they're mostly warriors or soldiers.

we need some good board control spells because I could see that many lords and anthems being a problem.

I noticed over on MTG Salvation there is still speculation as to the validity of Twilight Aura. And I'm doubting it myself. If you check out the artwork (by following the given link) you'll see there is a grass tuft by a green, leafy tree being illuminated by a ray of light. Doesn't the green, leafy, grassyness of the artwork clash with the style of Shadowmoor? Not to mention the text seems a little off, though only slightly.

Twilght Aura is just dandy for my black and green elf deck!!!!! I shall have four of these making my elf token 3/3's when they come out of the box!!! Quite the best card yet i have seen in my opinion and at 2 mana a steal!!!!

One has to not forget that the green and white elf mixture in shadowmoor represents what once was lorywn and the rememberance of what it stood for, They also represent the hope and the light that once was. They are the light in the dark shadowy place that is shadowmoor

Champion, Prefect, Wilt-Leaf Liege, Twilight Aura, Bramblewood Paragon...

You could almost just build a deck of Lords :p

They arent called "lords" though anymore but hey it works!!!

I know that the elves represent the goodness and beauty and blah blah, but I mean, isn't Shadowmoor a place where vegetation just doesn't grow to full fruition? Look at the treefolk, all wilted and without leaves. I don't know, there's a good chance the card is just an unverified but true rare. Still though, that just seems too green, too grassy, too sunny, to be in Shadowmoor.

He's got a good point, all the treefolk and trees I believe in shadowmoor were supposed to be leafless. However, the card seems reasonable and plausible so I'm not sure.

The flavour text makes it more believable IMO:

"The grove-lamps mainted oases of beauty and safety amid the perpetual darkness of shadowmoor."

Besides, making a fake card like that is more work than most people will go through. What's the payoff? And the light in the art isn't comming from the sun, which is absent from shadowmoor (get it shadowmoor hurf durf), the plant is making the light itself.

Edit:

The true drama comes when you play the Liege with creatures that are both green and white (as many hybrid creatures are). Those +1/+1 abilities are listed separately, so Wilt-Leaf Liege makes gold (or hybrid) green-white creatures +2/+2. How about a Gaddock Teeg being a 4/4 for :gw::gw:? How about a Rhys, the Redeemed who becomes 3/3 for :gw:, and who cranks out 3/3 green-white elves? And believe me, Shadowmoor comes with many more hybrid creatures to max out the power of the Lieges. (Oops. Oh, what the heck, you know you were gonna have the Orb of Insight count up instances of the word "Liege" anyway.)

The orb of insight has 7 instances of the word "liege." We will certainly get a cycle of these creatures.

If you wanted to, you could run both Wilt-Leaf Leige and the :wu: liege in a :w::w: soldier deck for major lordage. I'm starting to see two seriously powerful new aggro decks: :r:/:b: aggro and :g:/:w: mid-range soldiers.

I am wondering about those extra two lieges though... hmmmm...

Edit 2:

Babblefish thinks that Sygg's flavour text reads:

It is not a question of merite, but a question of force. Capacity to keep or capacity to take.

Merite = merit.

the "extra" liege is probably another self referential ability, like the one we've already seen.
The twilight aura thread was closed on mtgsalvation, due to some evidence against it.

I don't think the enchantment is that good.
If the land is destroyed it is destroyed too.
Creatures that do something by themselves are better.
Creatures that pump other creatures are better.

actually there is quite a good mana curve of lords turn two paragon/ aura into turn 3 prefect into turn 4 liege into whatever GW creature you like because it will come out with +4/+4. and they're all quite efficiently priced on their own, I reckon you could do a lord deck.

Looks like I'm going to have to make my elves G/W with black splash now, I'm just not willing to give up my spot removal and prowess of the fair, but these new elves are going to be a lot of fun

FYI - it looks like Twilight Aura has been deemed a fake at MTG Salvation and on the WotC boards.
