Rainbow Valley
Land
~ comes into play tapped.
:t:: Add 1 purple mana to your mana pool. ~ deals 1 damage to you. Purple mana can be used as mana of any color.

Idea for a new mana mechanic.

How is this any different than "one mana of any color"? I mean, Rainbow Valley seems strictly worse than City of Brass.

I thought puce was more of a crimson blood red colour.

What makes it different is that it can be used as mana of any color. Say you need to tap a land for mana but you dont know what you're going to do with that mana yet (the land is going to get tapped anyway, you're gonna draw some cards, etc.) so instead of choosing some random mana, you'll have some mana that you know will be able to cast a spell!

Also, what puts this on the same level of city of brass is city of brass hurts you whenever it's tapped, this only hurts you if you use it's ability.

I completely disagree with the idea of purple mana. I'd say this is strictly BETTER than the city, partly because the valley only deals dmg when tapped for mana. But mostly because purple mana is so much more versatile than mana of any color.

oh, and by the way, this idea is just dumb. in general.

Anyway, everyone knows purple mana can only be used as blue or red mana, just like grey mana can only be used as black or white mana.
