This is an idea for a new yugioh format. This format originated from Magic, but i feel would be awesome in yugioh. For all non-magic players out there, block constructed is where during deck construction only cards from the current block can be used. A block is composed of three to four sets. For example, the current yugioh block would be Soul of the Duelist, Rise of Destiny, Flaming Eterniy, anf The Lost Millenium ( May 2005)

So tell me what you guys think. And feel free to post any block constructed deck lists here.

Well that would screw up my chances! lol, most of my good cards are from Structure Decks or earlier sets! Seeing as quite a few of the cards in those sets were designed together (e.g. The Horus Cards and Level monsters) It'd prolly work really well! You could have Block 1 (LoB, etc.) and so on! Good work, pass it round!

This is a great idea just the only thing wrong would be the winners  who will complain about the not being able to use the other cards that are better from other sets!!

Wouldn't it be the same thing as Limited where you make decks on the spot from packs/anything else that's provided for you? In my opinion it will be as popluar as a 2 dollar bill. People like myself aren't going to go out of their way to create a specific deck to compete in a very limited tournament. I bet people will let this one pass, we've already seen an overly marketed game called Dungeon Dice Monsters come and go just as quickly, even with the publisity and an entire week on the anime.

It would not be like limited because in limited you have to make your deck out of packs you get and limited is usually only one set. This is like normal constucted only your only allowed to play cards of a certain block, get it?

For the most part I would like it, but it sounds real expensive.

You may need one or two very expensive cards in this format, Yea but look at regular constructed, you need BLS, jinzo, ring, mirror force, duo....

I don't like having to spend a fortune just to keep in with the latest power cards from the latest set. At least now you can have a short list of power cards to buy and it can be completed. It may be cheaper per block, but if you want to keep playing, you'd hafta do it for every block, or every 3-6 months probably. It would cost the regular players quite a lot to keep up, having to make a completely new deck every few months. Strategically it may keep the scene fresh, but I think there must be better ways to accomplish this.

I kingd of like the idea, i usually get the cards from specific sets anyway and i feel that this would be awesome. What would the limited rules be, as in what quantity of each card could you have. Can you have 3 injections or can you have 3 raigeki, if so this would lead to the people that dont play teh block format would be more willing to trade to have cards that they want to use in advanced format, traditional i am not sure who still plays or where, im from nyc and i dont see traditional as often anymore or hear about it.

One set would have to be combined would be PSV and FET just cause of gearfried and swordmaster, otherwise it would be a dead card in the tournament. Just another thought.

It would ruin Yu-Gi-Oh! It might not have ruined Magic and the Vs. System, but it did ruin Lord of the Rings. I mean, some people just don't have the money to do that. And little kids that are newbies would enter tournaments with illegal decks all the time and become annoying. It just wouldn't work in Yu-Gi-Oh! .

this idea sucks and would ruin yugi0h!!!!i hate it!!!in magicthe gathering its okay but it would completely destroy yugioh.Imean i aint buying cards from one set its a waste of money i like having a wider choice .if all yugioh tornaments become block comstructed i will quitt:mad:

 it makes no sense to have block construced tournaments in yugioh all it will do is limit the number of cqards u can use and make u pay lots of money to keep up with the latest sets .it stinks. and for people who like using certain creature types they wont be able too if there is not enough monsters of that type!!!!!imean cmon this reaalllllyy really ssttiinnkks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think it would be fun, but for those who have spent money on geting the stuff we need now it would be hard to get all the good stuff from those sets. and then later the next set would come out and we wouldn't need those anymore. and we already have the cards we need in are decks and people wouldn't trade for them because they would need to get card for the next block. so over all i think that it would be a bad idea to have a block in yu-gi-oh. plus where would db and dr come in to play

the only thing the same as magic and ygo is the deck system. draw one card per turn. magic is so different this will ruin YGO. ppl wanna play with the cards they like. YGO is a fun game. why make it less fun? i hope this only happens in isolated places. if they make block tourneys and keep the old tourneys, this would create class chasms. all richies going to blocks and us hoodlums in the normals. this would be kinda fun. but if normal tourneys go out and block is a requirement, here is one YGO player that will be selling his cards en masse.

if we did block would that lead to having type 1 and type 2? like in magic

You people obviously don't get it. This sort of game setting will test your ability to make decent decks out of what you get given. Stop putting so much faith in the latest boosters, and get back to the old school (no school like the old school, fo'!). It's not ABOUT having the resources, it's about having the SKILL. Who will accept this challenge? I'm game!

Peace.

I wouldn't like it. If it was going to happen (which I hope doesn't) don't choose chaos!!!!!!

ya having the skill is all fine and dandy, but when the last time youve spent 30$ on cards and got a good deck out of it? good decks cost upwards of $100-$250 (not kidding, do the math) unless you plan on winning with stater decks, ur screwed if u aint got doh.
(EDIT:::) you prolly wont be able to use the SD#-### sets, cuz these r so simple.

I just had a horrible idea. Give each player they're own block! They get three sets to choose, and only those sets can appear in they're deck. It's great for people who don't want to spend much cause they don't have to buy everything that comes out, and it leaves the old cards they're power. It's all about how many sacrifices you're willing to make for your personal staples. You want BLS-EOTB, Breaker, and Airknight P? Then that means no mobus, no mirror force, no jinzo. I wouldn't include the DB or DR cards in this, they would count for they're original sets. I think this would be great if it wasn't a logistical nightmare.

It's got promise, innit? Heheheh. I'll propose it next time I hit my local store, see what they think.

the only purpose for a block tourney format is to make more money for the companies. think about it once you have the cards for your deck you can pick and choose from the new sets. with this format you're forced to constantly keep up with the latest set and you have to buy a lot of them.

with the last two sets i've barely bought any because the cards in them aren't that great, one or two that would be nice to have but for the most part they're crap. i have no desire to go spend $200 dollars on a new set just so i can play tournaments.

U guys are a bunch of WINERS "I cant use the cards I want!", or "I cant use this" Geez! This is just like a new advanced format. Did u all cry like this when traditional and advanced came around? It wont cost as much for this since the decks arent like the old format, they wont be all holos since not all holos in the block will be good, think before u post!!!!!!!
