In memory of Goblin Lackey...
Preeminent Captain
:2::w:
Creature - Kithkin Soldier (rare)
First Strike
Whenever ~ attacks, you may put a Soldier creature card from your hand into play tapped and attacking...
2/2
...
All of a sudden, I am having visions of sneaking in Benalish Commanders and Field Marshals...
The card can be seen in the preview archive of MtG, here... (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=magic/morningtide/preview)

Interesting. If they don't give Kithkin the dual land we should all probably be happy they don't currently have, then the other play is to give them better Kithkin, and in honor of Legacy/Morningtide Sealed, looks like ye olde TRIBE 1/tribe2 concept of KITHKIN/soldier may be possible, meaning a 1-2 thing in a single color. Hmm. Well, thanks once again Shep, judgment will be reserved as usual until we see the complete set in about a month. Interesting card, in any event.

OMG YES sooo excited for this card. I think soldiers in general was an amazing idea.

Unfortunately there currently are no standard legal soldiers that are really worth going great lengths to cheat into play. This guy isn't exactly going to great lengths though. A 2/2 first strikers for 3 is slightly above the curve, but he quickly starts bringing friends to the party you'll pretty soon make up that minor tempo loss.
In a casual setting you could do some pretty amusing things with this gentleman and conspiracy.... or in a less casual setting with this guy and changelings.

It doesn't say without paying it's mana cost though. So I would assume you still gotta pay. No?

No. The soldier comes into play for free. The "may put into play" clause means to never "play" the spell, the spell never goes on the stack (the spell, the triggered ability does), and the creature just comes directly into play for free.
See Goblin Lackey and Wild Pair for similar wording.
Interesting to see if there will be any new Soldiers worth using this with.

Third turn this guy.
Fourth turn, swing, put in the 4/4 Green Changeling, pump him to 8/8? More if you have a wizend Cenn in play?

Thats sounds just ridiculous enough to to be worth trying, especially in block.

This guy screams "I abuse Changelings".
Something :gw: with Birds and elves leading into a turn 2 Preeminent Captain followed by a turn 3 Chameleon Colossus (which is then pumped)
- or -
a turn 3 Garruk into Captain-powered Changeling Titan. Then pump Garruk to 4 and drop a Gaddock Teeg.
Both set up turn 4 wins which aren't real easy to answer (the 2nd version being a dream hand).
They keep giving :gw: more and more tools, it's all going to come together eventually.

This card is crazy.
1st turn BoP, Llanowar Elves or Boreal Druid + land.
2nd turn land + CARDNAME.
3rd turn Attack and "Ninjitsu" a creature with Changeling, e.g Changeling Titan -champion CARDNAME.
4th turn Wrath of God. Does CARDNAME have haste then?
Ofc, we haven't seen all the Morningtide cards yet, but I think this will be a hit, if they make stronger kitkhins. And soldiers?

4th turn Wrath of God. Does CARDNAME have haste then?
No. but you'll probably want to attack with your changeling titan again before you wrath so it shouldn't matter ;)

Wait, does changlings have every class? I thought it was just creature type...

"Classes" are actually creature types.
e.g. a Treefolk Shaman has creature types "Treefolk" and "Shaman".

I'm guessing we won't see many hugely-powerful/expensive soldiers if they're giving them a card that lets you put out free, uncounterable, "haste"-ed soldiers.

Read back to page 1, then realize that Changelings are also Soldiers, and give us a big ... Yikes!

Dedicated Kithkin deck swings with this turn three and drops Kinsbaile Borderguard. Assuming you have three or four Kithkin out, you are adding a 4/4 that is resilient to Wrath.
As mentioned before, swing, drop Mirror Entity, use 4 mana to pump your entire army, you havve 3 5/5s + a 4/4 if you already had Wizened Cenn out.
WG kithkin drops Chameleon Colossus for a 10/10.
Benalish Commander comes down as a 4/4 that will continue to grow, and Thoughtweft Trio comes down for free. The only problem with this guy is that there are too many good Soldiers to pair up with him.
