Not to mention it could be a FTK now with the release of double summon. Your opponent doesn't even need a turn, just drop a cannon soldier, then use double summon, then summon scientist, game.

How will magical scientist be a first turn kill with cannon soldier and double summon? You are paying 1000 life points while your opponent only suffers 500 damage.

Or you could use the standard Reasoning/Monster Gate engine. Don't fix it if it isn't broken. And since Scientist OTK is most definitely broken, it's been fixed.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind having 1 copy of Scientist if it was errata'd to have the clause "The Special Summoned monster cannot be Tributed", as being able to actually use Ryu Senshi again would be nice. But it would still cause complaints, and letting it back into the game with the Scientist OTK engine untouched is practically suicide on Konami's part.

@Dark Scythe: I disagree about Demise OTK, it's still a viable deck in this format. 2000 LP to swing for 5200 damage is still very threatening.

PS: Demise = 2000LP to deal 8000, if used correctly (Demise, DoomDozer, Great Maju Garzet)

Konami/UDE weakens OTK as well as destroy them.
And I never said that Demise was a bad deck.

All the cards in the Magical Scientist OTKs should be limited. Then I don't see why we couldn't unban Scientist. I mean it would be impossible to create a reliable OTK deck if all cards in the combo were at 1 per deck.

well even with the FTK possiblity it problably wont happen. tomato can summon scientist and mother grizzley can summon turtle and plus the only thing that would screw with the ability to get them is having a Hydrogeddon or 4 monsters on my opponent's field. it would be fun but konami opposes fun.

Konami is way to lazy and conservative to limit a bunch of cards just to unban a FTK type card. They hate and most people who faced these in the past (ME!) would complain. There is to much backlash and hate ofr UDE and they would ban it again halfway through the format.

People only hate these OTKs and FTKs because they are so easy to pull off when all the cards are at 3 per deck.

But you won't find anywhere near as much hate for these sorts of decks if all the cards were limited. They wouldn't BE FTKs anymore.

meh. i for one, am glad we'll never see the scientist again. FTK's are queer. OTK's are fine, because they encourage originality and skill.

LOL that is one of the most stupid things that's been said for Advanced List...come on, why would Catapult Turtle be Banned?...Scientist is broken, even if not in the FTK deck, come on, you only pay 1000 life points, and you get a tribute for a monarch...

Back in the day, the combo consisted of cards like

Last Will (unrestricted)
Sangan
Witch of the Black Forest
Monster Reborn
Monster Gate
Gilasaurus
Card Destruction
Premature Burial
Magical Scientist
Catapult Turtle

As well as at least 7 Fusion Monsters over 2000 ATK. Most of the time, you tended to end up with a Gilasaurus in your opening hand, you special summoned him, your opponent has nothing in the Graveyard, so he cant do anything. Play Monster Gate, Tribute him to search for a monster, thin your Deck of other Spell and Traps, play Last Will to search out either Scientist, Turtle, or Sangan, depending on hand and Monster from Monster Gate Summon.

Get Scientist on field along with Turtle, pay to get a bunch of Fusions, tribute them to do 1000 damage each, then tribute the Scientist and Turtle for game.
