Hi, I have some scenarios and a question I need some help with,

First: Tyranitar Ex Pokemon Dragon Frontiers 99/101

The first attack says " Put a shock-wave marker on one of your opponents pokemon", what exactly is a shock-wave marker?




Second: Dark Raticate (Rocket returns 17/109) vs Mr. Mime ex

Raticate's attack "dark Seed" " The defending pokemon can't retreat during your opponents next turn. Put 5 damage counters on the defending pokemon at the end of your opponent's next turn"

Mr. Mime ex Pokemon Body: Poké-BODY: Magic Odds
If Mr. Mime ex would be damaged by an attack, prevent that attack's damage done to Mr. Mime ex if that damage is 10, 30, 50, 70, 90, 110, 130, 150, or 170.


Would the Dark Seed attack still do damage or not?

A shockwave marker is anything that will signify the Shockwave effect of T-tar's attack. Penny, mancala bead, bread crumb, anything both you and your opponent will recognize as a Shockwave marker.

Since the attack's effect says to place damage counters outside of the actual attack damage, that will not activate Magic Odds.

An extension of the Odds ruling:

The effect of Placing Damage Counters is not the same as Dealing Damage. Mr. Mime only helps with Dealing Damage, it does nothing about the effect of Placing Damage Counters. There are also a wealth of rulings about placing damage counters against various effects that could apply very nicely to this particular scenario.
