Hey, guys!

I just finished my Pokemon Pearl Version in 6:03, but I *know* that it's possible to finish it faster than this. So, I'm laying down a challange to anybody willing to accept it.

Beat my time.

There are a few rules that you have to follow in order for this to be valid:

1. No outside trading. Seriously. This ruins the fun of trying to speed run with your own Pokemon!

2. No Cheat Devices. Another obvious one. Just don't cheat.

3. No in game glitches. By a glitch, I mean something that's in there that's not supposed to be there (like the duplication trick). You can, however, exploit certain "holes" in the coding. The best example that I can give is, during the RBY era, there was a minor mistake in the coding so that whenever you used X Accuracy, all the accuracy stats on all your Pokemon's attacks were set to 100%. The strategy is quite obvious.

4. You can save as often as you like.

5. You can use whatever ingame strategy you like.

6. The speed run is considered complete when you save the game after beating Champion Cynthia.

Now that all of that is out of the way, I'd like to show you how I did my speed run.

I started with Turtwig, because he has the most favorable matchups against virtually all the event battles in the game. In fact, there are only 3 battles where Turtwig/Grotle/Torterra have trouble. Also, it's very easy to abuse Torterra's high Attack stat at the expense of his very low SpAtk stat. I simply chose Turtwig, and proceeded to run through the game on his back. I captured Palkia, and entered the E4 with both of them around lv 52. Really, a very simple strategy, but it took me over a month to get the thing done correctly, and I still made countless mistakes in my run.

I know that this can be done in 5:30 (and that's the target of my next attempt). I just wanna spend a few days reveling in my 6:03, and lay down the challange to anybody who is willing to accept it.

One question, how many pokemon did you catch/train?

I cought 5 total, including my Starter. Starter, 2 Bidoof, a Zubat (should have been Starly), and Palkia.

I found evidence that 4:45 has been completed, and he says that 4:30 is about the limit. With my particular run, I think that 5:15 is my limit, which is why I'm reworking this run for my next attempt.

I finished my Pearl in 4:50, but I restarted since my teams were so weak...
So an unofficial time :S

4:50? Really? Without trading? And without really trying to beat it that quickly? I'm impressed! You really beat Cynthia in 4:50 without cheating, without trading, and without glitching? I'm very impressed with that!

Yep. *Puffs out chest*
Torterra, Staraptor, Luxray, and Garchomp were all I needed.

I mainly used Palkia for support. I hate palkia. >(

I got 4:30 on GSC one time, but I needed to trade over five hacked Exp. Shares.
Heh.

i completed it in 4:43; but my squad was weak despite winning.

my squad were garchomp, togekiss, infernape, bronzong, lucario and staraptor; all at lv52.

tough, but completed. swarm training paid off in the end.
